Travel Advice

Our Nurses are happy to advise patients on all aspects of travel health and provide immunisations for travel abroad. We are a World Health Organisation Approved Centre for yellow fever vaccinations. Please allow sufficient time before your departure date as some courses of vaccines take as long as 3 months to give and you may need more than one appointment. There is a charge for this service in line with current guidelines.

Flu Vaccinations

Influenza immunisation is recommended annually in the autumn by the Department of Health for certain groups of people. The immunisation is advised for all patients aged over 65 years, and those with heart conditions, lung diseases, diabetes, kidney diseases, low immune system, as well as residents of nursing/residential homes. Please watch for notices in the surgery advising of clinics.

Smear Tests

Cervical smear tests for women involve an examination of the cervix (neck of the womb) to check for changes, which occur before cancer develops. These changes can be treated and cancer prevented. National Guidelines recommend that all women from the age of 25 up to the age of 65 should have regular smears, unless advised otherwise by the Doctor.

Smears are generally carried out by our Practice Nurses and we will routinely send you a reminder. If you know you are due for a smear, do not wait for a reminder, but book an appointment on 08444 773195. Please make any enquiries about cervical smear recall letters to Medical Records on 08444 773195.

Children’s Immunisation Clinic

It is important that young babies are protected in line with current guidelines and you will receive a card through the post informing you of your appointment. Please ring us if you are unable to attend.

If you have any queries about vaccination appointments, please speak to Medical Records on 08444 773195. If you require advice about the vaccination, please speak to the Nurse, Health Visitor or Doctor.
